John H. Warren, East Rumford, died at the Community Hospital Friday morning, February 25 [1944] where he was taken the night before.
Mr. Warren, the son of Benjamin and Anna Warren, was born at Prince Edward Island, May 5, 1882. He came to town many years ago and drove the Andover-Rumford stage before becoming a salesman for the C. E. Britton Co., a position he held for 20 years. Mr. Warren had been in poor health for some time.
Besides his wife, Evaline Abbott Warren, he leaves two daughters, Mrs. Charles Cutting, Richmond, Va., and Mrs. Hylan Reed, Andover; four grandchildren, four sisters, Mrs. Gordon Wetherall, Mrs. Underhill Couglin, Mrs. Jack Adams, and Mrs. William Mathews, Prince Edward Island, three brothers, Abb M. Warren, Labrador; Joseph Warren, Alberta, and Edward Warren, Newry.
Funeral services were held from the late home at East Rumford, Rev. William Penner, officiating, at 2 p, m. Sunday.
The body was placed in Sunnyside tomb until spring. Burial will be at East Rumford Cemetery. Pall bearers were: honorary, Alfred Sparks, C. E. Britton, John MacGregor, David Livingstone; acting, Warren Abbott, Russell Wentzell, Everett Thurston, Roy Stearns.
Friends and relatives attending from out of town were Mr. and Mrs. Edward Warren, Mrs. Grace Hulbert, Newry; Mrs. Ethel McArthur and Mrs. Carl Thurston, Topsfield, Mass; Mr. and Mrs. Charles Cutting, Richmond, Va; Mr. and Mrs. David Livingstone, Berlin, N. Charles A. Cutting was born on 26 April 1907 at Andover, Oxford, ME.1 He married Ida Elizabeth Warren, daughter of John Warren and Mattie Brooks Richards, on 13 December 1930 at Andover, Oxford, ME; "Charles and I were married tonight about 10:00 PM by Rev. Geo Keyes at the Parsonage. We planned to be marrreid to-morrow night but decided the last moment to be to-night."2,3 Charles died on 23 May 1993 at Andover, Oxford, ME, at age 86.1
He graduated in 1924 from Andover High School.1 Charles was a patent examiner for 32 years beginning in 1930 at Washington, DC.1 In 1962 Charles A. Cutting resided at Upton Road, Andover, Oxford, ME.1 Since his retirement, he and his wife, Elizabeth, had resided in her ancestral home in Andover. He had a deep interest in community affairs and served as selectman for 12 years. He taught two years at Andover High School and had been active in hunter safety programs, which he helped, organize and taught many courses throughout Maine and Maryland. He served as a member of the Governor's Hunter Safety Committee under Govs. John Reed and Kenneth Curtis. He was a longtime member of the National Rifle Association, where he was a hunter safety instructor, a certified marksmanship instructor and a training counselor. He served on many community committees and was an active member and vice president of Canton Fish and Game Association. He was a member and past officer of Cabot Lodge 117 Knights of Pythias. He attended Calvary Congregational Church in South Andover.1
