     Harold was born at Andover, Oxford, ME, on 7 January 1927.^1,2 He married Eleanor Lucille Rounds at Wickford, Washington, RI, on 12 June 1948.^2,3 Harold died of heart failure on 24 August 2001 at 21 Theresa Ave., Lewiston, Androscoggin, ME, at age 74.⁴ He was buried in June 2006 at Elm Grove Cemetery, North Kingstown, Washington, RI.⁵

He was awarded the World War II Victory Medal and the American Area Medal. His rank upon discharge was Seaman Second Class.      Eleanor was born at East Greenwich, Washington, RI, on 22 August 1929.¹ She married Harold Frank Richards at Wickford, Washington, RI, on 12 June 1948.^2,3 Eleanor died on 27 January 2005 at Central Maine Medical Center, Lewiston, Androscoggin, ME, at age 75.⁴ She was buried in June 2006 at Elm Grove Cemetery, North Kingstown, Washington, RI.⁴

Richards of the 75th Company, Coast Artillery Corps, having distinguished himself in the service of the United States on the third of April, 1914 by courage and tenacity of purpose, involving risk of life, while searching for two comrade who had been lost in the Koolau Range, Oahu, H.I. on the recommendation of Brigadier General E.M. Weaver, the commanding officer of his Corps, I do hereby award to the said Private Harold W. Richards, this Certificate of Merit, which, under the provisions of Sections 1216 and 1285 of the Revised Statutes of the United States, entitles him to additional pay at the rate of two dollars per month. Given under my hand at the City of Washington, this seventh day of October in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and fourteen. By the President: Ludley M.      Robert was born at Knoxville, TN, on 23 September 1915. (Grubb database has place of birth as Cincinnati, Hamilton, OH).^1,2 He married Gerda Schwartzer at Giesson, Germany, on 17 July 1948.^1,3 Robert died on 1 October 1996 at Asheville, Buncombe, North Carolina, USA, at age 81.⁴
     Bob Walters retired from the U.S. Army after 29+ years as Command Sergeant Major of the 555 Combat Engineers. He joined the Ohio National Guard in 1939, which was federalized in January, 1940. During WWII he was a bomber co-pilot with the Army Air Corps. He was shot down near the Germany-Italy border and escaped capture. At the end of the war and immediately thereafter, Bob was assigned to OSS. During the 1960's he was attached to the Tank Automotive Command where he helped in the design of the M1 Tank. He also served in Korea and Vietnam before his retirement.

After leaving the military, he settled in Asheville and took the position of Recreation Director at the youth reformatory in Swannanoa. After his retirement from there, he was an awarded volunteer at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Oteen, where he was instrumental in instituting a rehabilitation and prosthetics program and the hospice program.⁵ He began military service in 1938 at Ohio National Guard, Ohio.¹ He ended military service in 1967 at NC.¹

     Gerda was born at Breslau, Germany, on 3 February 1923.¹ She married Robert Elbert Pigg at Giesson, Germany, on 17 July 1948.^2,1 Gerda Schwartzer died on 10 June 2012 at Asheville, Buncombe, NC, at age 89.^3,4

     Charles was born at North Kingstown, Washington, RI, on 15 April 1897.^1,2,3 He married Blanche May Donelly on 19 April 1924.^4,5,6 Charles died on 16 April 1944 at age 47.² He was buried after 16 April 1944 at Elm Grove Cemetery, North Kingstown, Washington, RI.⁷

"Lieut. Alton E. Richards, U.S. Army Transportation Corps (Diesel Marine Engineer) & Cpl. Marion A. Rees, Womens Auxiliary Air Force (W.A.A.F. Royal Air Force) met in Plymouth, February 1945. He left for France in April. They married in June while he was on seven days leave.

The war in Europe ended. He remained on active duty in Germany - She sailed for N.Y. in April 1946, thence to Andover, ME. Alton arrived in August for 30 days R&R. They sailed from Brooklyn Navy Yard in September 1946 for Germany, where they lived until January 1950. Sandra and Chrystal were born in Germany, Francine in Houston, Texas. They left there in the spring of 1953 for Seattle and lived in that area ever since." He graduated in 1936 from Andover High School at Andover, Oxford, ME.⁴ He was inducted into the military at Fort Prebble, Portland, ME, in January 1936.⁵ He was released from active duty at Fort Prebble, Portland, ME, in January 1939.⁵ He appeared on the census of 1940 at Andover, Oxford, ME.⁶
