Another Sabath day; a day of rest. Have been to Church all day. Mr. Parsons from Boston preached at five o’clock a splendid discord. |

Tonight finds David and I on the old farm again. Father came up with us but has returned home. |

Have been ploughing today. Signs of rain but guess it will blow up some dry weather. We got out five loads of dressing making 160 loads in all. |

Have been plowing all day. Are in hopes to finish the field tommorrow. |

And we have finished it. Has been the warmest afternoon we have had this Summer. |

Finished plowing today for this year. We are with Uncle Joe tonight. His family is all well. |

David and I went a fishing today down on the Cambrige river. Caut 81 in all that we brought home threw away some. Left of fishing at three and at seven am at home. |

No services held in our church today untill evening. So went to the other church. A Mr. Philips from Mass. Preached. A very smart man. |
Monday 19 |

Tonight finds me in the old house on the old farm again. Am in hopes to get done here at present this week. Willie Pratt stoped with me tonight. |

Have been harrowing today has been some rainy so I have not got along as well as I expected to. But will try and make it up tomorrow. |

Sowed 8 Bu. of grain today. Has rained about every hour. |

Finished the five acre piece tonight and am as tired as I care to be after. Had a very heavy hard storm today at noon. |

Finished harrowing in the buck wheat today and came home was glad to get through with the job. |

Quarterly meeting commenced with us today Bros. Gould and Brooks from Upton & Grafton are with us tonight also Uncle Henry and wife with two children and two Mrs. Douglases making in all quite a family but are glad to see them all. |

A beautiful day and have had a beautiful time.Edwin Caldwell was married this morning. The Elder preached an excelent sermonn today and so di Bro. Kendall from Newery; may God bless and prosper them. |

A splendid day have been hoeing today on Goulds finished his for the first time. Uncles folks returned home this morning so did the rest of the folks. |

Pleasant this morning and this evening is raining such is life full of changes. Have been hoeing potatoes at home today. Have got a small troter come along last Saturday. |

This morning at three o’clock David and myself started for Upton to get the cattle out of the woods found them at last and half past eleven finds us at home willing to retire. |

Have been to church today. Has been a very warm day Went up on to Farmers Hill with Bro. Hannaford to a lecture. The school house was crowded full. |

Have been hoeing today been some rainy but has cleared of pleasant for the celebration tomorrow. |

The one hundreth birthday of our independence as a nation has come and gone just the same as any other day. Have been hoeing today as Andover celebrates with nothing but dances and horse racing. |

Father and mother went to Upton today to see how the cattle are getting along. Also to see the folks; pick strawberries &c. |

Have been to church. Bro. Sprague spoke to us his subject being the three Hebrew worthies. And a most splendid sermon it was too. |

Another very h0ot day. Father and mother came home from Upton today. Finished hoeing today and have got to commence haying tomorrow if pleasant. |

Commenced haying today also commenced haying one year ago today. Has been a very hot day being 92 o degrees in the shade but has been a splendid hay day. Hezekiah Hutchins married today. |

Another hot hay day. Got in two loads of hay today. Mr. Farnum Abbott died last night. I understand I have got a second cousin in Upton. Well they are a smart kind of people up there. |

Have got four loads of hay out on Goulds all wet through for we had the smartest shower I think I ever saw. |

A splendid hay day got in three loads of hay today. Mr. Leysander Fuller was down today. Father paid him $3.38 in full of all demands against him to date. Got in five loads of hay this week. |

Another splendid day. Have been to church today. Mr. Dunham from Bryan’s Pond preached to us in the evening. |

Got in five loads of hay today, mowed three. Hervey finished his two days job and I paid him $2.00 which satisfied him. Got in 21 loads of hay this week, making 26 in all. |

Rainy today have been oty church. Rev. Mr. Burbank of Rumford charge preached to us today tow very good sermons. |

Mother is unwell so I went up to Mr. Marston’s and secured her a hired maid hope she well heall right soon. |

Has been a poor week for haying have got eight loads this week making 34 in all Mr. Ezra Jewell was drowned today in Roxbury Pond. |

Another splendid had day. Have got in 4 loads of hay today. They succeeded in finding Mr. Jewell’s body today. Having been in the water four days was some disfigured. |

Am tending Camp-meeting at East Livermore. The first Camp-meeting I ever attended. Are enjoying myself very much. |

Another month has dawned upon us making a good beginning Sunday. Have attended church all day. A beautiful evening as there is a full moon and a clear sky. |

Have put 17 Bu. potatoes into the cellar at home today making 202 Bu. in all. Delivered Durand 20 Bu. of potatoes today being what we owed him for fours loads of manure got last Spring. |

Have been to a circle up to Bro ?Ohert’s? had a good attendance and being a splendid evening everybody seemed to enjoy themselves. |

A dull day have been carting apples most of the day. Mrs. Farrington and old lady (being 91 years old) was burried today. |

Have been drying potatoes today four of us. We were hoping to finish but as it had been raining the past few days we did not. Have put 160 Bu. into the factory out of the field today. Uncle Wm. Abbot and wife are here tonight are glad to see them. |

A splendid day. Have just got home from the Corner. Received on the telegraph news of Hayes election hope it will prove to be true. The high school closed today. |

Raining hard tonight. Have been on the road today. (Father and I with one horse.) Uncle Henry and wife with two of their children are with us tonight are glad to see them. Bro. Sprague and Hannaford made us a visit today and evening. |

Came home from Upton today. Find on getting home that it is hard telling who is President. It seems as thought the same old, red hot blood in the South is boiling over again. Hope it will be checked. |

Tonight mother and I are in Paris with Uncle Henry folks. We found them all well and at home. |

Today we came to Uncle Jacob Parsons. Found them well and prospering nicely. Signs of a snowstorm hope it will not come untill we get home. |

The Exhibition which came off tonight prooved a success. As the weather was very favorable. Uncle Henry and Cousin Martha are with us tonight are glad to see them. |
