Another new year has come around to us. May it be a prosperous one for us all. Tem. 21 to 30A Snowed gently all day. No wind.

Cloudy. 20 to 18A. The wind has been busy all day with the snow that came yesterday.

14B to 8B with a strong breeze has made it the coldest day for the winter so far. Sheridan got his first load over to Swain’s mill today.

30 to 32. Cloudy and windy. Walter Barnes and Emma Pratt were married today and gone on their wedding trip.

22 to 40A. Clear and cool and windy. Signs tonight of a storm of some sort coming tomorrow. Lincoln Dresser, the oldest person in Andover died today in his 92nd year.

30 to 50 A. A high wind all day its not as cold as usual. Clear and pleasant. No water to float pulpwood out.

30 to 55 A. A fine day. Some wind. I went to Mr. Dresser’s funeral this P.M.

24 to 32 A.. Clear, cool and windy. 49 years ago today I walked out home here from Middle Dam. Was some tired I remember.

28 to 30 A. Clear and warm glad to see it. I went to the funeral service of Mrs. Ingalls Bragg today.

Saturday 16


30 to 65A Another clear and windy day. Have been doing chores and splitting wood all the week.

Sunday 17


24 to 65 A. I went to church to hear Mr. Renfrow preach an Easter sermon. He spoke well. Had a good service.

Monday 18


24 to 72A.. The warmest day so far this spring. I heard the frogs singing tonight for the first time also.

Tuesday 19


42 to 80 A. Still warmer today. This moring was the first time it was above freezing in the morning in Apr.

Wednesday 20


40 to 80 A. This is my 75th birthday. It hardly seems possible. Have worked all day doing chores and splitting wood.

Thursday 21


Sheridan got his pulp drive out of Sawyer Brook today.

Friday 22


Raining tonight the only rain we have had, I think, since last Fall.

Saturday 23


We got a nice rain last night and this morning. Makes the grass begin to look green. Our first great grandchild was born today to Beatrice. Weight nine pounds. A girl.

30 to 40 A. A cool day. Snow squalls that did not cover the ground.

48 years ago today we were married. It hardly seems possible time hone so swiftly by. Aunt Persis died today.

We had quite a heavy frost last night. It froze potatoes, corn, and beans. Have been passing hay today am some tired.

Have been passing hay today. Finished the dirty job.

Commenced haying today. Ted Dane is helping us. Poor hay weather.

Rainy today. Worked haying two days only this week and got in only two loads of hay.

We got in 3 loads today. Howard worked after 2 P.M. Paid. 1.00

Got one load of hay today. Sheridan sprayed his potatoes. Ted helped him. Howard worked this P.M. Paid

Mowed and raked some today. Ted worked this P.M.

Got 2 loads today. A poor hay day. Howard worked in the afternoon.

A fine day. The only good hay day we have had since we began haying. Got in 3 loads. Howard worked this P.M. a poor week for haying. Got 9 loads making 11 in all.

No hay day today. Fixed up the hen house some today.

A very good day for hay. Got in 2 loads. Howard worked part of the P.M. paid .50

Another hay day. Got in 3 loads. Howard workd from 11 Earned 1.25 Paid.

A fine day. Got in 3 loads today making 11 loads this week. Howard worked this P.M. Paid 1.00. Have had 4 days of haying the past week. Have to 22 loads so far.

Cloudy. Mowed the meadow today. Signs of rain tonight. Fred came tonight.

Rainy A.M. Cleared away in the P.M. Could not hay any today.

Finished mowing our grass today. Got in one load. Howard worked this P.M. Paid 1.00

A fair day. Got in 3 loads today. Howard worked from 11 A.M. Paid 1.25

We got 4 loads of hay today. Had a small wind shower in the middle of the P.M. Howared worked from 11 A.M. Paid

A fine day. Got 3 loads today making 11 this week. Howard worked from 11 A.M. 1.25. Finished haying today. Got 33 loads in all

Commenced to get out manure today. Cloudy and cool. Sheridan is harrowing with his tractor.

Saturday 20


Paine has been hauling out manure for the last four days. Sheridan had the misfortune to loose his buildings tonight by fire down on the Hall fare. Too bad for him as he needs them on the place.

Wednesday 31


Have been dow to Portland and back today with the Twentieth Century Club. Had a fine time enjoyed it very much.

Saturday 10


28 above. We got our first frost this morning did not very badly due to there being some fog. Finished thrashing our oats today. Had 210 Bu. Not a drop of rain fell the past week. The first full week without some rain, I think, for the whole summer.

Sunday 11


Rained all the forenoon. Windy tonight and cooler. Did not get out to Church today.

Friday 23


Sheridan commenced to dig his potatoes with his new digger. The potatoes are smaller than they were last year.

24 above. A cold night. Had our first killing frost last night. Pumpkin & squash vine were green until now.

A fine day. 55 years ago today father bought this farm. He died 38 years ago today.

Warm and fine weather. 60 above tonight at 7 o’clock.

58 above. A very rainy day and warm for Nov.

Friday 4


Rained all last night and the most of today so we have got a big rise of water. Stony brook bridge has gone and the mill dam also.

Saturday 5


Black Brook bridge on the Byron road washed away in the high water we have been having. The Crocker Bridge was badly shaken up. Also the Noble Small bridge. The roads are badly passing? over the entire town.

Monday 7


Cold and windy. We got the first snow flakes here today for this fall.

18 to 34 A. Cold and windy tonight. Sheridan sent away his last loads of potatoes today to Portland Me. By truck.

24 to 34 A. A cool cloudy day. The folks went to Rumford today. Snowing some tonight.

3 inches of new snow on the ground this morning. Cool and foggy all day. Cattle in bare for the first day this Fall.

30 to 10 A. About 7 inches of snow fell last night. The wind has drifted it up some in places. The coldest day we have had.

0 to 15 A. A cloudy cool day. No wind. The women folk went to Rumford this P.M. for a ride with Marguerite.

Monday 5


12 to 32 A. Snowed all the fore noon. Cloudy P.M. N wind. Sheridan went to Hanover with his car today.

24 to 26 A. A fine winter day. No wind. Good sledding on the roads and the autos are still running.

Wednesday 7


10 to 26 A. a light snow fall. No wind. Mattie McEwen was there to dinner today.

Thursday 8


Have not been feeling very well for some time so called on the Dr. today. He ordered me to stop all work for a while. No wind.

Friday 9


Have stayed in the house all day taking the Dr. advice and medicine. Hope to be better in a few days. No wind.

2 to 22 A. A fine pleasant day with no wind. Think I am feeling some better today.

34 to 35 A. am better today so will write my weather report again. Snowed this AM. But rained in PM. No wind.

14 to 18 A. Clear and cool. Some wind. Good sledding on the road or where the ground is not too rough.

26 to 20 A. cloudy and windy. One foot of snow came last night. The first to stop autos running. I have been shut in all the past week in the Dr’s care with my own. Seems odd to me. Hope to get out soon.

18 to 22 A. Mrs. Simon Learned died this morning. Cloudy and windy.
