5B to 26A Clear a find day. Sheridan got another load of wood today. Has been a nice week for winter weather, very little storm on 7 or 8 inches of snow in woods.

20 t 30A Clear a fine day. The rain and water has caused Sheridan to keep his team out of the woods four days. Has been a very warm week for the time of year.

28 to 34A Hail and rain nearly all day. Homer drove a new car up from Rumford tonight.

34 to 40A Clear and warm. The snow is going every day. Looks as though sledding was going to play out.

23 to 40A Snowed about six inches today and blowing hard tonight. The first high wind we have had for a long time.

To 18A. Cloudy windy and cool. Nice logging. Can take a cord of wood the first load in a new road and the hunks won’t digge.

5 to 15 above. Fair a find day for business. A sevear earthquake occurred here tonight at nine twenty four P.M. A very mild week one rain storm and one snow storm. Earthquake tonight.

Monday 2


10B to 24A 1 foot of snow fell last night. Town meeting today. Passed off all right. Another one in two weeks.

4 to 28A cloudy and snowing tonight. 52 years today I came with my parents onto this farm.

10 to 40 Above and snowing again tonight. Fred came up tonight to spend the night with us. Always glad to see him.

35 to 55 above. Snowed 4 inches last night nearly all gone tonight. Nice and warm today.

10 to 40A Fair Sap run quite well today but we have not tapped ours yet. Another mild week. It certainly looks like an early spring now.

10 to 45 above. A nice warm day. Sheridan finished his pulp job today. I have been splitting wood and doing chores as usual. Rather a stormy week with some sunshine and two cold nights.

A rainy day. Sorry to loose our yesterday’s run of sap. Have been doing chores and splitting wood all the week.

Warm and cloudy all day. Wet and sloppy. The first horse and wagon also an auto passed the house today.

A find day. Have been working in sap orchard some today.

26 to 40A Clear and cool. Sap rung some. 5 inches of snow on the ground this morning. My 73 birthday.

A fine day. Took of 4 gallons of honey to. Turned over the buckets. Fred is with us tonight.

Have been removing the banking from the house today.

Cool and cloudy. Sheridan has been hauling out manure all week.

Began haying today. Mowed the orchard and highway.

Sheridan commenced haying on the Hall farm today.

Poor hay weather.

Mr. Frank Field died suddenly this morning. Very poor hay weather.



August



Saturday 1


Another poor week for haying. A little better than last week. Bad three days. Mrs. Hastings died today. Have got in 9 loads of hay this week making 14 in all.

A cloudy week but not much rain. Have got in 11 loads this week making 25 in all.

Monday 10


Did not hay any today dull weather.

Tuesday 11


Hayed in fore noon rained in PM. Jess worked ½ day.

Wednesday 12


Got in 8 loads today. Jess worked today. Harold in the PM.

Thursday 13


Went to Norway today. We are with Grant Abbott tonight. Raining. Fred is with us.

Friday 14


Cloudy and some rain. Fred took us to Portland and back to Auburn tonight.

Saturday 15


A fine day. Come home today. Have had a fine time. Thanks for Fred’s kindness. Got in five loads this week making 30 in all.

Tuesday 18


Finished mowing today. Got in three loads.

Wednesday 19


Got in one load today and finished haying. Have to 39 loads this season.

Saturday 12


We had the worst hail storm today I ever saw. Broke out 15 window panes for us. Others faired much worse in town

Bert Berry died this morning from being hit by an auto while attending the Norway fair. A very dull week. Have had oats out all the week and could not get them dry.

Thursday 24


Finished harvesting our oats today. Had over 600 Bu of them.

Friday 25


24 above. A cold cloudy day. 42 above at noon. Cold for Sept.

Saturday 26


A fine day. Have been putting wrapping paper on the thrashing shed today.



October



Saturday 10


Our first snow storm. It melted nearly as fast as it came here. More than one foot fell in Upton they claim.

Monday 19


Finished painting the East end of the barn today. Think I did well for a man past 73 years old.

Thursday 22


Sheridan finished digging his potatoes today. Had nearly 2000 Bu in all. And nearly 600 Bu of oats with a good crop.

Sunday 25


Two inches of snow fell last night. The cattle are in the barn today. Rainy.



November



Saturday 21


A fine day. Has been a good week. The cattle have been in the field the most of the time so far this fall.

Thursday 26


Another Thanksgiving day. Had Homer’s family to dinner. A fine day but cool. The fields are still bare. Good wheeling where not to ruff.

Friday 27


Has been snowing about all day. About five inches on the ground tonight and still falling.

Monday 30


A fine day cool with signs of snow again tonight.



December



Tuesday 1


Has been snowing gently all day. Ralph Thurston left her this P.M. with 40 Bu potatoes in his truck for Rumford.

Wednesday 2


Dorothy Thomas and Alton Brooks were both buried this afternoon. Sudden death from Scarlet Fever.
