     Occupation: Carpenter.1 According to Morse, p. 184:

Benjamin, by trade a carpenter, "came from Rochester, N.H., to Haverhil, and in 1723 purchased a tract of land in the north part of the town now Atkinson." "In 1727 he there made the first settlement." When the Congregational church of A. was formed, he became one of the original members, and tradition has brought down a high character of him for humility and devotion. Like others of his family he was endowed with remarkable physical vigor and tenacity of life. At the age of 87 years he was seen to mount his horse without a stirrup, with a broad axe in his hand. He attained, however, no rare longevity for his race, for he died Dec. 15, 1796, aged 96, while he has remote relatives as old now living in health.2 Benjamin was born at Newbury, Essex, MA, on 24 April 1701.3,1 He married Mary Staples on 2 March 1723.3,1 He resided at Haverhill, Essex, MA, in 1723.1 He married Abigail Bradley on 29 December 1726.3,1 He resided in 1727.1 Benjamin died on 15 December 1796 at age 95.1
